RP Motorsport Racing is ready for “the American dream”. After the two excellent years played in the prestigious World Series Formula V8 3.5 (the championship that closed its doors at the end of the season just ended) the Italian team is now about to face a new and exciting challenge in the American continent. The 2018 will see RP Motorsport Racing at the start in the Pro Mazda Championship, a series preparatory to the famous IndyCar championship with a single-seater Tatuus PM-18 powered by a 275-hp Mazda 2.0 cc engine.
A strongly desired choice by RP Motorsport Racing, able to underline once again the desire to expand its business in rapidly growing competitive contexts, entering at the same time in new markets with an international dimension.
Fabio Pampado (RP Motorsport Racing team principal): “After the successful experience in the World Series Formula V8 3.5, we immediately started looking around to fix our plans for 2018. We found a very interesting context in the Pro Mazda Championship: thanks to its partnership with IndyCar and to the new Tatuus chassis from 2018, it will receive a new boost. We believe it is the best choice for us to continue to guarantee our team the presence in a championship with international visibility, and the opportunity to compete on tracks full of charm represents a challenge with a unique flavor “.
There will be nine stages that will characterize the 2018 season of the Pro Mazda Championship, with sixteen races overall, two of which on oval circuit, five on road tracks and two city tracks. After the first pre-season tests scheduled on Homestead’s Miami Speedway at the end of February and on Barber Motorsport Park in early March, the season will start on March 9th-11th on the St. Petersburg city circuit, coinciding with the inaugural week of the IndyCar Series. After the round at the Barber Motorsport Park (20-22 April) it will be the turn of the most prestigious appointment of the season, scheduled on the legendary Indianapolis circuit from 10 to 12 May, before the scheduled challenge on the Lucas Oil Raceway mini-oval May 25th. Then follow another weekend on a track full of history like Road America (22-24 June), before the Canadian trip to Toronto (13-15 July) and the one in Mid-Ohio (27-29) July). Finally, the two final stages of the season will take place on 24-25 August at Gateway Motorsport Park and, just a week later, on the Portland circuit.
A season with ‘stars and stripes’, that looks promising for RP Motorsport Racing, already at work to prepare in the best way for a challenge challenging and full of charm.
