RP Motorsport Racing in the points with Bonanomi and Baptista

RP Motorsport took a double points finish in race 1 of the Formula V8 3.5 championship round at Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. New-entry Marco Bonanomi secured a valuable ninth position in his first single-seater outing in seven years. The Italian showed lots of progress throughout the weekend, crossing the finishing line in front of team mate Vitor Baptista. The Brazilian ended up 10th after a promising qualifying session.

Marco Bonanomi (#21) – Q1 P14 1:17.435 – Race 1 P9 +15.874

“The race 1 result is quite positive: I improved my feeling with the car thanks to some set-up changes made to make it suit my driving style, and from my side I understood its behaviour a little more. I ended up in ninth place and scored two points. I’m very satisfied for the progress we made after qualifying this morning, and I hope to keep improving on Sunday”.

Vitor Baptista (#22) – Q1 P8 1’16″414 – Race 1 P10 +16.412

“I got my best starting position in the series and we were expecting a good race. I had a nice start but a mistake cost me two spots during the opening lap. Then we had a good pace until the late safety-car came in. On the restart I locked-up a front wheel under braking, losing another position, and the same occured in the next corner. Except for that my pace was good, so let’s see for tomorrow”.
