RP Motorsport Racing – It is confirmed in the points

The RP Motorsport team brought both its cars into the points zone in Formula V8 3.5 race 2 at Spielberg. Vitor Baptista and Marco Bonanomi improved their respective starting positions, with the young Brazilian rookie crossing the finish line in eight place. New-entry Bonanomi confirmed himself into the top-10 as well, ending a very encouraging comeback in single seater competition after seven years.

The next round of the Formula V8 3.5 series is scheduled for the 1st and 2nd of October at the famous Monza circuit, on RP Motorsport’s home soil.

Marco Bonanomi (#21) – Q2 P14 1:16.904 – Race 2 P10 +21.118

“This morning I made further progress, but not as much as I would have liked: I still need some time to understand the car’s behaviour and to find the best feeling at the wheel. My race pace was competitive anyway and not so far from the fasterst drivers, but I lost a position while battling with my team mate. Then we had a little issue at the pit-stop which cost us some time. Re-starting the the weekend now, with more experience under my belt, would be great, but this is normal when there’s no chance to do testing. The team did a good job and they have a good baseline but we need to improve, especially in qualifying”.

Vitor Baptista (#22) – Q2 P12 1:16.602 – Race 2 P8 +14.185

“In qualifying we had a really good car, but we had a problem with the brakes just before putting new tyres on, and this obviously affected our performance. We started from the 12th position, the take-off was ok, I gained two positions, then at the pit-stop we had the safety-car. The tyre change was very fast, and then it was just about bring home the position and collect some other points”.
