A challenging Saturday for RP at Le Castellet

RP Motorsport experienced a challenging Saturday at Le Castellet, home of the fourth round of the 2016 Formula V8 3.5 season. For the first time this year, the Italian team couldn’t collect any points with newcomer Artur Janosz or team-mate Vitor Baptista. The Polish driver ended his first race in the series in 12th place, recovering from a troubled start. The Brazilian rookie was forced to retire on lap 12 following to a contact with another car while he was keeping an encouraging pace.

Artur Janosz (#21) – Q1 P14 1:51.118 – Race 1 P12 +36.470 “In qualifying I could do a single flying lap, but unfortunately I made a mistake losing a couple of tenths. At the race start the anti-stall system was on and I had to use the clutch again, while everyone was going away. During the first lap I gained some spots but then I struggled a bit. The car was sliding and it was difficult to battle against the other drivers in low downforce trim. My tyre wear was not huge, but I was sliding more and more. It has not an easy race for me, I fought with the car all time, but after this first experience I know what to expect from tomorrow. Let’s hope to do better”.

Vitor Baptista (#22) – Q1 P9 1:50.145 – Race 1 DNF “In qualifying we had a good pace, and then I could even start from the seventh position. My getaway was really good but at the second corner I had some problems with the systems. The anti-stall came in, I had to pull the clutch and put the gear back again, so I lost a lot of time. Then I was just keeping my pace, I was pretty quick but Pietro was slower than me in the corners. I tried to overtake him into a corner but unfortunately we made contact”.
