After the historic victory won in Game 1, the RP Motorsport Racing has collected important points in the second race of the Formula V8 3.5 in Budapest. Johnny Cecotto Jr got a positive sixth place in the rain, making many overtaking to make up ground.
The Venezuelan driver was already in second position when unfortunately the safety car is back in action after the start, not allowing him to make the mandatory pit-stop until the green flag signal. After the go-ahead and change tires made on the 12th lap, Cecotto is still highlighted on the wet to close sixth, despite some problems with the second set of tires. After two disputed championship weekend, Cecotto takes fourth place in the drivers’ standings with 43 points, while Piacenza team is fifth with 48 lengths.
Sunday however difficult for Vitor Baptista, who had never driven his car in such conditions. The young Brazilian has concluded in advance of their positions, losing the opportunity to gain experience with little grip. In race 2 he was then forced to retire with a spin on lap five.
The next round of the Formula V8 3.5 is expected in the prestigious Spa-Francorchamps circuit on 21 and 22 May.

“Today we were a bit ‘unfortunate. At the green flag I made a big comeback in just one and a half, but unlike the cars ahead of us were on the track when the safety car intervened. Not being able to make a pit stop at this stage, as required by regulation, we had to wait for the re-start. After the tire change but I had some problems with the second set of tires, but I managed to get a good points finish. “

“In qualifying due to a spin I could not score a time, and I missed the opportunity to become familiar with the wet track. For me it was even more difficult to face the race, and in the first laps the visibility was very low. the last corner, because another spin, I unfortunately had to retire. I managed to do some ‘experience even in these conditions, now I think of the next events.”
